A Walk In Your Shoes-Michael Cutts

Michael Cutts. Age: 27. New York, NY. Creator/Blogger for TheSmackDab

Perhaps I am biased, but regardless Michael Cutts really is the perfect guinea pig to kick off GZ's "A Walk In Your Shoes."  The choice for the inaugural subject has nothing to do with the fact that he is married GZ's blogger, but is solely (pun intended) based on the fact that Michael takes shoe and sneaker loving to a whole new level!  Creator and blogger of TheSmackDab, Michael keeps up to date with the latest in footwear and fashion with his favorite style blog, HypeBeast (present company excluded of course). His love for sneakers began at an early age with his first Nikes at 2 years old (a pair that he felt crucial to bring with us to our tiny Manhattan apartment).  Most couples have one person that has the bad shoe shopping habit, but in this relationship it is more of a competition for who has the worst.  With a new pair of shoes topping his "shoe shopping list" each week, it is a damn good thing we found a space with a walk-in closet.  So raise your glass not only to the kick off of what is bound to be a fantastic study of people and their shoes, but also to the true Sneaker Freaker, Mr. Michael Campbell Cutts.

Favorite Pair of Shoes?
"Have you ever heard the saying, 'Don't like the weather? Well just wait five minutes.' The same goes for my choice in footwear, it's constantly evolving. If I could get back the time and money spent on eBay, I could build you a house. That said, at the moment my favorite shoes are the Del Toro Skull & Bones velvet slippers. It's sort of weird this is so because if you know me, you know I'm obsessed with sneakers and brown leather. My choice features neither, but by God, there is no more beautiful site than brown leather that has lived a long and healthy life."

Why?
"This pair are my favorites because I wore these on my wedding day in Florence, Italy so they hold sentimental value.  Beyond that, I am enamored with the skull motif and the Spanish lifestyle. I also like these because of the way it makes you feel when you wear them. You have never truly enjoyed a glass of Malbec until these are on your feet."

Favorite Shoe Designer/Label?
"The Swoosh is King. And always will be. Next question."

Most Important factor when purchasing a pair of shoes?
"I first ask myself if I can pull them off. I see shoes everyday that I love, but I could never pull off. The second thing I do is mentally go through at least three outfits that would go with the shoes. If I can't get three, I rarely pick them up.

Runner-Ups?
"My entire closet! A very close call is a pair of Nike Killshot Vintage I bought in Paris, France on our honeymoon trip. I also own a pair of really sick leopard print slippers from Stubbs & Wootton. I will say this, guys, if you don't have a pair of Adidas Rod Laver's or Stan Smith's in your closet....you're doing it wrong."

Dream Pair of Shoes?
"I am very disappointed I didn't pick up a pair of leather work boots this year. But, I'm always on the hunt for something new, so there is plenty of time to add them to the arsenal."

Is there a pair of shoes you wish you still had?
"I wish I still had all my original Vision Street Wear and Jordans from childhood.  I had a Disney World dad that always kept me laced up in the best.  But, it makes up for it all to still have my very first pair of Nikes, which are featured prominently in the photo below."
