This Takes the Kate...

Seriously, I swoon over Kate Hudson...to me she is one the most essential elements to today's fashion world. If you don't agree, just take a look at the blonde bombshell on the cover of January 2010's Harper's Bazaar. She is beyond stunning in the Emilio Pucci cocktail dress. Her perfectly sculpted physique is one for the books. When asked about her life, Kate states "I'm having a good time right now." I bet she is. There is nothing that this woman can't do! While balancing her 5-year old son Ryder, a Yankees hearthrob (well...at least at the time of the interview), and her acting career, she has managed to take on a new task....singing and dancing in the film, Nine. And from what we take from the interview in Bazaar...she may possibly be trying her hand at a new task as well...

A quote from Bazaar, "Even in gym clothes without any makeup on, her streaked blonde hair pulled back in a tossed-off bun, Kate glows." That is a person to strive to replicate.
When discussing her style, Kate says, "At heart, I'm such a hippie," (rewind to her role in the film, Almost Famous), "I don't like structured things. I'll put on a tight, sexy little thing that I can't walk in, and that's fun. But I like the flowy and comfortable. I just want to make really beautiful clothes that I want to put on every day." Did I hear MAKE really beautiful clothes...not wear, but MAKE??? THAT'S RIGHT LADIES....Here you go....Bazaar has revealed that Kate Hudson is considering starting her own clothing line!!!! And with her impeccable style, this is a line that will undoubtedly enter my wardrobe!

Kate's fashion inspiration can be drawn from her characters....hippie chic from Almost Famous, Vera Wang Bridal from Bride Wars, and who can forget the yello
w nearly backless number in How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days? However, Kate is a fashion icon in real life as well. Her "effortlessly chic" look is flawless, and her red carpet numbers have nearly always dubbed her on the "Best Dressed" List. Kate is undoubtedly a major fashion icon of our time....and when a fashion icon wants to design clothing....hand her the tools and let us wear the results!

As far as her role in Nine, I have yet to see the film...however, it is on my "To-Do List" for the week. And as far as Hudson tackling her new task of singing and dancing....from what I have seen in this trailer...there is still nothing she can't do...Fantastic! Take a look for yourself..and make sure you check out the film. I have yet to see Kate fail at anything she has tried...so I'm ready for that clothing line Ms. Hudson....bring it on!

Thanks to Coco Chanel, we have what is known as The Little Black Dress, LBD for short. The original LBD, Chanel's Ford Dress (Like Henry Ford's Model T, this dress was an instant hit, and only available in black) made a massive mark in the fashion world in 1926 when it appeared in Vogue. Vogue stated that that the LBD would become "a sort of uniform for all women of taste," and as usual, Vogue was right!

The Little Black Dress even maintained is necessity through the Great Depression, mostly due to its accessibility and elegance in a time that was extremely difficult for Americans. With Dior's 1950's "New Look," the little black dress once again found its home being associated with the dangerous, and seductive women. And then there was the unforgettable dress worn by Holly Golightly in "Breakfast at Tiffany's;" a silhouette that is forever embedded in every fashionista's mind. Clearly the Little Black Dress is here to stay.

It is required that every woman have a LBD, a fantastic "go-to" piece that works for many occasions and is easily slipped on when you receive that last-minute-invite! One would say that you could never have too many LBDs...and I would agree. Today's Little Black Dresses are incredibly unique. Designers have taken this simple concept and gotten incredibly creative, still maintaining the elegance of the original LBD. The result? The most amazing little black dresses that we have seen in decades. Whether it's gorgeous draping, unique trimming, or a fabulous cut-out, the LBDs of today are statement pieces. With the proper LBD, you can guarantee to stand out in a crowd! The French Folk icon, Edith Piaf once said, "When a little black dress is right, there is nothing else to wear in its place." Any fashion-minded woman would agree...please click below to check out some of my current favorite LBDs...
